I received an email a few days ago from Juan José in Guatemala. He described how a tea blend had helped neutralize the symptoms he was experiencing. When asked, he graciously agreed to share his story!
My father had Parkinson’s started in his 50s… he didn’t do too well, doctors filled him with pills and he ended up on a wheelchair unable to handle himself 20 years later. His only complaint was his inability to sleep.
I’m 65 and recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s although I’ve probably have had it for at least 3-5 years but the tremors only started this year.
My main problem is the same as my father, fragmented sleep and it got to a point that I could only sleep in one and a half hour intervals which made me depressed, anxious, inattentive, withdrawn and greatly affected my work so I decided to do something about it.
I found a group of nuns in a monastery in the mountains 3 hours from Guatemala city who dispense natural remedies and was given a bunch of herbs to boil in water and make tea:
- Flor de Tilo
I also added a natural tea grown in the rainforests of Guatemala, FDA approved and sold in the USA as well, called “Milagro de la Selva”, they are targeting mostly diabetes sufferers for this product. It is composed of 2 plants:
- Smilax Domingensis, and
- Tecoma Stans
I take one glassful of the tea during lunch and a small cup of it at night.
I boil the “Flor de Tilo” with “milagro de la selva” in a covered large pot for 2 hours, then add the rest of the ingredients, 4 herbs tripling the amount of “Valeriana” in the pot and turn off the heat. Add piping hot water to bring the pot level.
Leave covered overnight, the color should be dark brown, much darker than what a normal tea looks like. The flavor is really quite good, light, much lighter than regular tea.
It works Fred…. Don’t know why but the darn thing works. You should take 3 large cups per day, no more, and that should keep your shaking down to a minimum.
The pot should have 4 liters of boiling water, use two large pinches each herb… that is the amount of herb you can hold between your thumb and index finger, 6 to 8 pinches “valeriana” and 4 pinches “flor de tilo”. The “milagro de la selva” is actually stem pieces of 2 plants, you need a add a handful, that is, the amount held by your cupped hand.
In addition I make a vegetable shake also prescribed by the nuns which is a mixture of 1 tomato, ½ lime, 1/3 cucumber, 1 celery stalk without leaves, bit of ginger and a little water.
- My trembling has decreased significantly
- I am able to sleep in 3 to 4 hour intervals which is really all I need to get to REM sleep
- I no longer need to urinate several times during the night (this is attributed to the vegetable shake)
In addition I drink one can of Tonic Water a day which has taken away my painful and debilitating back pains, decreased my night leg cramps and put to rest the annoying feet sole cramps. This suggestion came from a friend whose mother has the condition and a doctor told her to drink tonic water to reduce the cramps on the soles which really are not that painful but make you get up and stand several times a night.
Anyway, about a month and a half ago I felt so much better that I decided that perhaps the tea and the shake had nothing to do with my feeling better so I stopped taking them. After a week nothing happened but 5 days later everything came back at once with a vengeance… I went back to sleeping in fragments of no more than one and a half hours, leg and body cramps came back, back pain was unbearable and had to resort to taking Celebrex twice a day, foot soles cramps all night, my stomach also was affected and I had diarrhea for most of the night and parts of the day, my trembling increased and with it arm spasms which really look awful but are not bad…
I did this to see if the tea, blend and tonic water had alleviated my condition and my simple test came true so I’m back to my tea, shake and tonic water and today I managed to sleep in at least one 3 hour fragment, my shaking has significantly decreased, my back pain is gone and with it leg cramps and sole cramps.
Hope this helps you out a bit.
Now I am VERY SURE my tea mixture works… I’ve gone back to sleeping 4 and a half hours straight and my tremors have diminished 75%… I’ve been drinking 2 to 3 glasses of my tea per day in addition to the vegetable shake I make in the mornings and all the vitamins and minerals that I take to resupply what Parkinson’s must be flushing out of my body.
What I need to do now is exercise and I actually have a super-duper treadmill but because of being so tired I have been unable to exercise; I felt better end of last week and on Sunday I started exercising again and will follow up today. Exercise is of the essence to strengthening your body and keeping this condition at bay.
I am succeeding at keeping this condition at bay and decided not to allow it to push me into isolation, inattentiveness and depression, instead I found the tools to battle this thing to slow it down and reverse some of the physical aspects of the condition, and… in turn, this raises my spirits and enables me to have an upbeat attitude on life to enjoy its finer moments.
My dad was the product of excessive medication and ignorance in the treatment of this condition, medication deteriorated his ability to sustain continued sleep and that was his only complaint, but it wrecked his life. He ended up unable to talk and in a wheelchair although even in his worst moments he kept a cheerful attitude… I don’t know how he managed but I learned that this condition has to be controlled from the beginning before progressing to an unfavorable outcome and this is precisely what I have been doing and the reason I am sharing this with you.
I am very grateful to Juan José for sharing his story. It is particularly meaningful in light of his father’s experience. In addition to Juan José’s tea blend, you might also want to be aware of Essiac tea. It was created by Canadian nurse, Rene Caisse, in the 1930s and is used all over the world to treat cancer and other health conditions. I’ve never used it [because my focus has been elsewhere] but I know people who have and who found it helpful for their overall health. It is available on Amazon.
Have an awesomely healthy day!
