Last night, we watched Whiplash, the movie for which J.K. Simmons won the academy award for best supporting actor. The film is about a young protégé determined to become a great jazz drummer and the abuse he endures from his instructor, played by Simmons. In the end, the protégé’s talent and determination win the day and he achieves the greatness and recognition he seeks.
There’s a strong message in this film, particularly for those of us who are attempting to recover from a debilitating illness. If you have a dream, a goal, take charge of the situation. Don’t let anything or anybody stop you from achieving it. If you run into a roadblock, stay the course, you will find a way around it. If somebody tells you it’s not possible, ignore them, because it is! If you feel discouraged, persevere, success is just over the horizon.
We are all meant to experience challenges. Its what helps us grow. It’s part of our purpose for being here and it helps humanity grow. It is essential!
Believe you can do it and you will!
Have an awesomely determined day!
