There is no better way to enjoy a few hours in the winter than to go downhill skiing. The pure exhilaration you feel as you push off at the top of the hill. The wind in your face as you glide downwards. Chatting with friends on the chairlift. Enjoying the breathtaking vistas of the land around you. It’s awesome!
My biggest thrill skiing was doing the downhill run after the women’s downhill race at Mt. Tremblant back in the early 80s. What a rush that was!
I’ve never gotten the hang of moguls and I’m not a jumper, but I love slalom skiing. It’s both peaceful and thrilling at the same time.
I love downhill skiing…my kids are snowboarders, but that’s their issue…and although I don’t get out as much as I once did, I enjoy it as much as when I first started. Each run down the hill makes you feel like a kid all over again.
Actually, participating in childlike activities…not childish or immature, childlike…is good for the soul. Whether it’s a game of tag, pick up baseball, diving in the lake or wrestling with kids, it keeps you in the present moment, puts a smile on your face and keeps you young.
Have fun on the slopes…you’re it!
